On the evening of November 9, 2025, the opening ceremony of the 15th National Games of China was grandly held at the Guangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium. This grand event was jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau, and the atmosphere at the venue was enthusiastic and the crowd was jubilant.
The fireworks display at the opening ceremony, combining artistic beauty with technological sophistication, became a major highlight. Before the cultural performance began, a creatively designed electronic "fireworks show" blending reality and virtuality took place. A circular fireworks installation above the venue was activated simultaneously, sending golden rays of light raining down, dazzling and ethereal. Among the highlights was a large, striking "flower"—a virtual representation of the kapok flower, known as the "heroic tree of the South and the first flower of Guangzhou." The traditional fireworks display was equally spectacular, with dazzling fireworks illuminating the night sky, and the final, breathtaking scene becoming an unforgettable memory for countless people.
To balance safety, a sense of ceremony, and environmental protection, the creative team, after multiple rounds of expert consultation, decided to adopt the "cold fireworks" approach: producing bright sparks by burning specially formulated metal powder at low temperatures, replicating the effect of traditional fireworks while maintaining a temperature far below the thousands of degrees Celsius of traditional fireworks. Furthermore, after testing at multiple heights above the venue—38 meters, 35 meters, and 33 meters—the team ultimately selected a 28-meter ignition height to ensure optimal visual effects while preventing falling debris from injuring the performers.
